Tone and Style: The author provides accurate information but in a way that many children can access. I love using this book and having the children experience the power of words. Martin Luther King fought injustice through the use of powerful words rather than physical violence. Vocabulary - I love reading this book because of the powerful vocabulary used. In the author’s own words, “I saw firsthand the fragility of being black in white America.” She then taught in a Mississippi freedom school during the summer of 1965. She participated in the March on Washington in 1963.
